Special Birthday Presents
Although all birthdays are special, some stand out as particularly monumental, and require special birthday presents. So, what are these special birthdays you ask? Certain birthdays, such as the 16th, 21st and 30th, are considered milestones in the progression of someone’s life. Also, birthdays that happen around certain events in life, such as graduating from college are also considered significant.
Milestone Birthdays
The following are birthdays considered milestone birthdays, and require some extra thought in choosing special birthday presents.
1st birthday: a child has made it through the first year of life and if they aren’t already walking, are ready to really make their presence known by graduating into toddler-hood.
13th birthday: this birthday marks the end of childhood, and the beginning of the many changes that happen during the teenage years.
16th birthday: this birthday is also known as Sweet Sixteen. It marks the middle of the teen years, and in many places it means you can apply for your driver’s license.
18th birthday: almost out of the teen years and in many places in the world you can now legally vote, serve your country in the military, and in many places legally drink alcohol.
21st birthday: Now you really are an adult! You have all of the rights and privileges of an adult, and in many countries, 21 is the legal drinking age.
30th birthday: Now you are firmly entrenched in adulthood with the teens and twenties behind you. Full steam ahead with the adult responsibilities of life!
40th, 50th, 60th etc: Pretty much any birthday with a zero after it, is significant and requires special birthday presents.
Special Events in Life
Certain events in life are also milestones regardless of your actual age. If a birthday falls around one of them, special birthday presents reflecting this change, may be required.
Going to College: Leaving home for the first time to earn a college degree, they are also learning to live independently of their families.
Graduating College: Saying goodbye to the college years, and heading out into the workforce.
Getting Married: They are leaving the me years and entering into the we years, as they build a life with another person.
Having the First Child: Life is no longer just about you, there is now a little one to consider.
Buying the First Home: The first major purchase of your life, along with all of the responsibility.
