Personalized Birthday Gifts
You hear the term “personalized gift” all the time, but maybe you aren’t entirely sure what that means. Generally speaking a personalized gift takes three forms.
- You have had the person’s name embroidered, engraved or painted onto the object you are giving as a gift ie: name embroidered on pajama top, or engraved on jewelry, or painted on a piece of sporting equipment.
- You have had the occasion embroidered, engraved or painted on the gift ie: sweet 16th embroidered on a bathrobe, happy 21st engraved on a wine glass, 30 years painted in gold on a desk organizer
- The gift may be ordinary, but you have added a personal touch on how you give or present the gift.
The following are ways to personalize the giving or presentation of the gift.
Personalized Wrapping and Presentation
Personalize the wrapping and presentation of the gift to the birthday person’s preferences. If they are into the green movement, wrap their gift in something made from recycled materials. Wrap the present in something in their favorite color, or with a pattern on it (kittens, sail boats) that reflects their interests.
Homemade Items
Personalized birthday gifts you make take into consideration the birthday person’s likes and dislikes. If the gift comes from your kitchen, make their favorite baked item or desert. If they like hot spicy food, make it really spicy for them. If they are a meat and potatoes person, don’t make them something too exotic. If you are knitting, sewing or crocheting a gift for them, make it in their favorite color, or in a material or texture that they love.
Special Gift Basket
Personalized birthday gifts can come in a nice gift basket. This means you don’t just fill the basket with any old treats or products, but with ones for which they have a fondness. Put in their favorite cookies, chocolates, alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages. If putting products in the basket, put in things that are their favorite scent, or meant for their particular skin or hair type. If they have a special interest, fill the basket with things they can use to pursue their hobby.
Special Memory you Share
Do you and the birthday person share a special memory or period in your life together? Did you go to the same college or spend the summer at the same beach while growing up? You can personalize a gift by getting something that reflects this shared memory. Get a t-shirt, sweat shirt or coffee mug from your college. Put together an album of photographs from the time you spent summers at the beach.
Regular Gift with Personal Touch
Add a personal touch to a gift you have bought by enclosing a small item of a personalized nature. For example, if you’ve bought the birthday person a book, you can personalize the gift by including a bookmark with their name on it.
Personalized birthday gifts have the person’s name, or the occasion embroidered, engraved or painted on the gift. You can also personalize a gift by drawing attention to the birthday person’s preferences.
